Les Paradis Artificiels
Charles Beaudelaire Les Paradis Artificiels - illustrated by Ingo Avolta Paris, Jean de Bonnot, 1984. First Edition, 26.5 x 20 cm. 243, (5) pp. with 271 silkscreen prints in silver. Black original sheepskin, top-edge gilt, blind and gilt tooling. Illustrated back. First edition with these illustrations. - Signed by J. de Bonnot and Ingo Avolta. Ingo Avolta's interesting surrealist illustrations were awarded the Prix Aspra in Rome in 1982. Small spot on top, but still a very good copy. "Les Paradis artificiels is an essay by Charles Baudelaire published in 1860, in which the poet deals with the relationship between drugs and poetic creation. Baudelaire, however, questions the intimacy of the link that could exist between drugs and the poet, the true poet not needing drugs to find inspiration" (Wikipedia).
